History

IP-Only was founded in 1999 by Svante Jurnell and Fredrik Jansson. In autumn 2002 IP-Only acquired KPNQwest’s extensive fiber network for a fraction of the original investment amount. The network, which linked the Nordic capitals, and Malmo and Gothenburg, also included the technical buildings and stations for enhancement and regeneration of the signals along fiber routes. These KPNQwest built to ensure total independence from other operators. Since then we have continuously invested and extended the fiber network, for example with fiber to Copenhagen, Helsinki and the island of Gotland.

In 2007 “Karlskrona Nät” was acquired with an extensive fiber network in southeastern Sweden. This led to over 475 km additional fiber network in the IP-Only Nordic grid. As part of our strategy to build a denser network in order to carry our services in our own network all the way up to the customers, we acquired Uppsala City Network from TDC in 2008. This resulted in a further 110 km duct and fiber cable in urban Uppsala.

In 2009 the IP-Only group made three acquisitions ; “Dataphone”, which has greatly broadened and strengthened our offers in voice services, the server-hosting company "Telefortress", and at the end of the year the consumer market broadband operator “Blixtvik”, which subsequently in February 2011 was sold to Alltele .
